SUMMER STUDENT JOB OPPORTUNITY

Fitness Centre Attendant – Community and Family Support Services Department

2 Positions

JOB SUMMARY:

The Fitness Centre Attendant is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment in the fitness facility. This position involves customer service, general maintenance, equipment monitoring, and ensuring all patrons follow gym rules and safety guidelines.

POSITION DUTIES:

· Assist with registration of new fitness centre users

· Assist with supervision of the fitness center and conduct inventory checks on a regular basis

· Assist with general maintenance and cleaning of the fitness centre

· Assist with general maintenance and cleaning of the Recreational Park next to the fitness centre

· Ensure participants of the fitness centre follow the rules of the facility and using equipment safely

· Responsible for tracking fitness center statistics and volunteer hours

· Create opportunities for incorporating the Ojibway language and culture into the facility and the programming occurring at the facility

· Facilitate fitness centre orientation sessions to increase confidence and competency within fitness centre participants, assist community members with their workout that may require additional support

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

1. Must demonstrate enrollment as a full-time student in the previous academic school year and be returning full time in the fall of 2025/2026 academic school year

2. Must be eligible for Sagamok Anishnawbek ISETP program funding (member of Sagamok, valid SIN)

3. Must have, or be willing to obtain First Aid, WHMIS, & Health and safety in 4 steps

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Priority will be given to post-secondary students within the health, fitness, recreational leadership or human services fields

· Knowledge of and respect for Anishnawbek values, teachings, culture, and traditions is of critical importance

· Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet and email software’s

· Able to work with minimum supervision

· Must be able to be physically active on a regular basis

· Current CPR and First Aid Certification

· Valid drivers license for on the job use

· CPIC

· Must be able to work flexible hours
