JOB SUMMARY

The Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department is responsible for building a healthy, inclusive and vibrant City, as well as ensuring that communities, residents and visitors have access to the recreation and cultural places, programs, events and services that allow them to experience all the benefits the City has to offer, and overseeing Buildings and Facilities Management for improved service delivery integration, ensuring the best possible client experience in City facilities.

You are responsible for performing a wide variety of customer service duties. These may include, but are not limited to client inquiries, program registration, and sale of goods/supplies. You are also responsible for understanding and following all City of Ottawa guidelines, policies and procedures in relation to cash handling and customer service.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Note: minimum age of 15 years is required for this Summer Student job.

Student must be returning to school in the fall.

High School Student – Grade 10 minimum.

No related experience is required - Previous experience operating a cash register is preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES

Current Standard First Aid, CPR-C and AED certificates.
AODA Accessibility/IASR Training.
Current National Lifeguard Pool certificate is an asset.
Current Lifesaving Swim Instructor certificate is an asset.
Current Lifesaving Instructor certificate is an asset.

KNOWLEDGE
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.
