SCC has implemented a hybrid working model. Our model balances remote work with coming together in person when it is purposeful. This position can work remotely most of the time, while requiring in-person work regularly. SCC's office is located at 55 Metcalfe Street in downtown Ottawa.
Job Summary and Key Activities
The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is currently accepting applications for one (1) full-time summer student position to work with our Corporate Service Branch. We are looking for a dynamic individual who can provide support within the branch, and is interested in contributing to initiatives, such as:
- Input financial transactions into SCC’s accounting systems and perform other data entry tasks as assigned.
- Verify the accuracy of financial transactions, ensuring compliance with SCC’s policies and directives.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to respond to helpdesk requests, providing guidance and training on financial procedures and appropriate next steps.
- Provide policy support and financial advice, including preparing invoices, reports, maintaining financial records, and compiling financial statistics and documentation.
- Assist in the preparation of SCC’s reporting requirements, including branch financial statements and proactive disclosure, through coordination and collaboration with colleagues to meet reporting deadlines.
- Support auditors and branch colleagues by providing required documentation and information related to internal processes during interim and annual audits.
- Prioritize and process daily, weekly, and monthly financial transactions, managing workload effectively.
- Identify and recommend improvements to financial processes, procedures, and tools that promote efficiency and best practices across SCC and the Finance Branch.
- Contribute to other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to support broader team initiatives.
Education
- 1st, 2nd or 3rd year post-secondary student (preferably with a focus in Business Administration or other related programs)
- Must be registered for Fall 2025 session

- All applicants must be returning to university or college in the fall.
- SCC is responsible for the Personnel Security Clearance process. Typically to be eligible for “Reliability
