About this opportunity:
Cenovus Lloyd Refinery team is seeking for Summer Relief Rail Car Loaders. These positions are based at the Lloydminster Refinery.
As part of the Rail-loading team, the Summer relief Rail Loader shares responsibility for the safe operation of the Rail-Loading operating area. This includes operation of railcar mover and all types of equipment, pumps, valves, and control panel consoles. Additionally, the Summer relief Rail Loader is responsible for documentation of daily activities. This role works with other Offsites personnel and various LR Departments when needed, as well as the CN and CP Train Master. The Summer relief Rail Loader helps the Third and Second Loaders and will assist the First Loader if needed.

Work Environment:
- Candidates must have the ability to work various hours (day shifts only). Work schedule to be determined
- Overtime as required based on business needs and schedules
- This position is based out of our Lloydminster Refinery facility and would require the successful candidate to reside/relocate to the area
- Successful candidate will be required to work in a wide variety of conditions due to the nature of the operation (working at heights, in confined spaces, with noise, in extreme weather. conditions, toxic environments, etc.)
- This is a unionized role (UNIFOR)
What you’ll do:
- Movement and spotting of railcars
- Perform pre-loading inspections of railcars
- Loading rail railcars with molten asphalt and other commodities -Following daily instructions and safety requirements
- Preparation of rail equipment for maintenance as well as issue work permits. Do spot checks and ensure the work is being done in a safe and timely manner
- Complete required training and ensure allocated training hours are met
- Act as First Response in handling of emergency situations as needed
- Aligns with all HS&E and ISO 9001 requirements in the performance of this Position's responsibilities
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- High School diploma and valid Fourth-Class Power Engineering Certificate
- Previous experience in the rail industry is considered an asset
- Relevant post-secondary education e.g. Heavy Oil Operations Technology considered an asset
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in an industrial setting

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.
For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
