Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital seeks a summer student for the Therapeutic Recreation Team. The role involves planning and implementing recreation programs with children having physical disabilities. Applicants must be between ages 15 and 30 and enrolled in a related academic program.

This position will be working with the inpatient Therapeutic Recreation Team.
Key Responsibilities
Maintains flexible hours including weekends and statutory holidays
Contributes to departmental planning meetings.
Follows hospital philosophy regarding Client and Family Centred Care.
Possess knowledge of Holland Bloorview’s client-based services, programs, policies and procedures
Ensures the maintenance of the Standards of Practice for Therapeutic Recreation
Identifies learning needs and provides opportunity to reach goals for program participants
Create safe and fun atmosphere for all participants
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a Diploma or Degree program in Therapeutic Recreation or equivalent (Recreation & Leisure, Recreation Leadership)
Maintains current certificate in Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Life Saving course (BCLS) and Standard First Aid
Experience working with children and adolescents with physical disabilities and their families is preferred
Creativity and ability to adapt and problem solve on demand
Relates well to professionals, children, adolescents and family members
Ability to manage flexible working hours and fluctuating responsibilities
Proven ability to organize time, meet deadlines, and work independently
