The Summer Gymnastics Camp Counselor serves as a professional role model for our campers by leading through example and guiding campers through recreational activities that teach life skills, encourage healthy and safe behaviors, and create a positive camper experience. The Summer Sports Camp Counselor ensures that each youth has adequate supervision, including ensuring that no youth is unsupervised at any time.
Pay starts at $17.90 per hour, Monday-Friday schedule

Responsibilities of a Summer Gymnastics Camp Counselor
- Promote the YMCA, provide excellent customer service, and create an outstanding camper experience for children, parents, and families.
- Lead recreational activities with campers, including sports, social recreation, games, and hobbies.
- Instruct campers using various teaching methods and modify activities as needed for engagement.
- Teach socially acceptable behaviors by serving as a role model and using positive reinforcement and behavior management strategies.
- Communicate regularly with supervisors and team members about camp activities and schedules.
- Support camp activities as assigned, including specialty camps.
- Ensure the physical and emotional health and safety of campers by following YMCA standards and evaluating risks.
- Ensure compliance with rules and regulations to maintain safety.
- Monitor campers and staff, providing corrective coaching when necessary.
- Set up facilities and equipment for activities, keep camp facilities clean.
Minimum Requirements & Preferred Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Passion for working with diverse youth.
- Enjoy outdoor activities, be creative, and willing to work and play hard.
- Experience in camping, childcare, education, recreation, sports, or related fields is a plus but not required.
- Experience with gymnastics is highly preferred.
- Excellent verbal communication skills for clear and effective instruction.
- Ability to establish positive relationships and serve as a role model.
- Willingness to learn and apply new skills.

Child Abuse Prevention
- Report hazards and suspicious behavior to supervisors.
- Follow policies to keep children safe, including supervision and monitoring.
- Complete all required child abuse prevention training.
