Our Child Care Team is supportive, dynamic, and growing! We are looking for individuals who are energetic, active, responsible, and caring. This role is a temporary, full-time position for 8 weeks commencing on June 16th with 35 hours per week and the potential to continue into a permanent, part-time position. Flexible shifts are available during the week, Monday to Friday, from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.
This is a federally funded position and applicants must:
- Be between 16-30 years of age
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment and
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

- Assist with implementing program plans and leading daily activities in accordance with YMCA standards and program expectations, based on program theme and age of participants.
- Foster healthy, meaningful relationships and provide a place to belong for children, families, and colleagues
- Actively interacts with children ages 4-12 as a play partner
- Ensure the safety of all members, participants, staff and property
- Lead high quality program planning, incorporating the Y’s values
- Maintain safety and supervision in accordance with provincial licensing requirements and standards
- Support implementation of play based educational programming, including interactive play, literacy, mathematics, science, building, drama, games, team building, daily physical activity, and sports
- Participate in YMCA of Southern Interior BC community initiatives
We’d love to hear from people with:
- Over 16 years of age for Recreational Camps
- Over 19 years of age with your Responsible Adult (or 20 hours of professional development relating to children’s health, nutrition, safety, development and/or guidance) for licensed camps
- Valid class 4 operator’s license (is an asset)
- Valid First Aid Certificate with CPR level B or C
- Experience working with children and youth with exceptionalities an asset
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Passion to help children achieve their full potential through purposeful programming and implementation
