Summer Camp Leader 7-11 Years

Company Overview:

The Rockland Park Homeowners Association (RPHOA) is a not-for-profit corporation whose purpose is to manage, maintain, and operate the HOA amenities. The RPHOA will own, operate, and maintain the Rockland Park Lodge, a 4,750 sq. ft. exclusive community lifestyle centre that is situated on a 4-acre site. The main building will be the primary entrance into the park and will include multi-use rooms, a kitchenette, gathering spaces, and family-friendly change rooms and showers. The exclusive park will provide activities for all seasons with an outdoor swimming pool that includes a 25-meter lap pool and family-friendly zero entry area, pool side cabanas, a year-round hot tub, playground, central fire pit and gathering area, casual skate/adventure trail, hockey rink/basketball/modular skateboard area, pickleball courts, and amphitheatre.

Position Summary:

Are you passionate about creating an unforgettable summer camp experience for all the children attending? Do you thrive on building meaningful relationships and exceeding expectations? If so, we want YOU to be our Summer Camp Leader! As a leader at our camp, you’ll play a crucial role in shaping a fun, safe, and welcoming environment for all campers. You’ll have the opportunity to engage with campers, supervise daily activities, provide guidance, and ensure everyone feels included. Your responsibilities will include leading group activities, managing camp routines, assisting with camper needs, and ensuring a positive and enriching experience for all.

Reporting directly to the Lifestyle Coordinator, this is a full-time, seasonal position requiring 40 hours a week, with shifts running Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Weekend and evening shifts will also be required on occasion for special events and team meetings.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the Summer Day Camp Leader is responsible for performing the following specific tasks:
  2. Design & implement an engaging, fun & interactive Summer Day Camp program for children aged 7-11 years.
  3. Prepare all materials and ensure all supplies are ready prior to the camp, to ensure a smooth operation.
  4. Set-up/clean-up of facilities and activities.
  5. Create, maintain, and provide parents with all required paperwork prior to camp start.
  6. Meet and greet parents and campers on arrival and departure from camp, ensuring all campers are properly signed in and out.
  7. Assist in obtaining feedback from participants regarding camps.
  8. Exercise safety awareness and practices.
  9. Provide supervision and guidance for all day campers.
  10. Adapt activities where appropriate and needed.
  11. Demonstrate role model appropriate behavior at all times.
  12. Provide first aid when necessary and notify the Lifestyle Coordinator of the situation as soon as possible.
  13. Handle and report to the Lifestyle Coordinator of any problems, concerns, or emergencies that arise during the camp.
  14. Attend mandatory staff training prior to camp.
  15. Coordinate, communicate, and provide direction to the half day camp leader.
  16. Abide by the RPHOA policies and procedures as outlined in the RPHOA HR policy manual.
  17. Provide exceptional customer service and portray a professional manner.
  18. Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  1. Must have experience coaching or instructing children in a recreational capacity.
  2. Previous experience creating extensive programming for children within a designated budget.
  3. Positive, outgoing and enthusiastic attitude.
  4. Excellent communication skills.
  5. Ability to work independently and unsupervised.
  6. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  7. Attention to detail.
  8. Must enjoy working in a fast paced, challenging and changing work environment.
  9. Problem solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills are required with proven interpersonal, presentation, verbal and written communications skills.
  10. CPR & First Aid certification is an asset.
  11. Satisfactory criminal background check.
