The Opportunity

RVS invites applications for Substitute Teachers for the 2024-2025 school year.

Substitute teachers are called to substitute teach on an as-needed basis at any of our schools. You must be available to work throughout the 2024-2025 school year, be accessible by telephone and internet, and provide your own transportation. No interview is required to be added to the substitute teacher list. A positive reference received will be the approval to be placed on the substitute teacher list. Please ensure all current references have e-mail addresses and are up to date.

• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated ability to work in a collegial environment, with all members of the learning community
• Understanding of and commitment to a teaching style congruent with RVS' vision, mission, and beliefs
• Strong pedagogical understanding as it relates to a variety of curricula
• Ability to quickly engage students in their learning while ensuring a classroom climate of respect and safety

Substitute Teacher Expectations:

• There is no minimum day availability required to be a substitute teacher with Rocky View Schools
• There is no minimum geographical area selection required

Pre-employment Requirements

• The successful candidate must submit a current Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check within 30 days of the start of your employment
• The successful candidate must possess, or be eligible for an Alberta Teaching Certificate and provide Human Resources with an original of their Teacher Qualifications Service (TQS) document.
