Job summary

Artelia Canada is seeking a Substation Engineer - Grounding to join our Energy department in Mississauga. You will perform grounding modeling using CDEGS and contribute to several power system studies.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in electrical engineering, is a P.Eng, and has 5+ years HV substation experience, with strong communication skills and ability to liaise with clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with minimum 5 years of high voltage substation experience
• P.Eng designation is required/preferred
• Experience with load flow, fault analysis and short circuit studies is expected

Responsibilities

• Perform substation grounding modeling using CDEGS and SES modules
• Conduct power system studies including load flow, short circuit, voltage drop and protection coordination
• Prepare proposals, scope documents and client presentations
• Provide final reports ensuring power quality, reliability and compliant work execution
• Coordinate with project personnel and clients to resolve technical issues
• Perform independent audits and reviews of technical work

Job Description

Within the Energy department, as a Substation Engineer - Grounding :

• Excellent in CDEGS software and shall perform substation grounding modeling with various SES modules including HIFREQ;
• Proficiency in other substation studies such as, Rigid and Strain bus calculations, AC/DC load studies, Ampacity Studies, Arc Flash studies, lightning protection and insulation coordination, lighting, transformer and bus sizing calculations, fault calculations, and AC and DC auxiliary system sizing calculations;
• Power system studies including load flow, short circuit, voltage drop, protection and coordination and ampacity studies;
• Proposal preparation, proposal estimates, and provide input to scope documents and client presentations;
• Quality assurance of the documents to the applicable client standards;
• Discuss technical problems and communicate effectively with other project personnel and external customers;
• Perform independent audits and reviews of technical work;
• Provide final reports which summarize the overall project including timelines while ensuring power quality, system adequacy, system reliability, system compatibility and compliant work execution;
• Offer customer support and problem resolution with respect to the associated project, product, process, and quality system.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a minimum of 5 years of relevant High Voltage Substation studies;
• Experience with power system load flow, fault analysis, and short circuit studies;
• Experience with CDEGS, CYMCAP, SES-Shield 3D, ETAP, SAMCEF, PSS/E, EMTP, and PLS-CADD;
• Must possess strong written, interpersonal and presentation communication skills;
• Professional Engineer of Ontario (P.Eng) is required.
