Substation Electrical Engineer (Hybrid)

Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities

POWER Engineers is seeking a Substation Electrical Engineer to work in the Power Delivery Substation Department in British Columbia.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed design of low to extra high voltage substations, including :
  • Schematics
  • SCADA
  • Communications
  • Station physical layouts
  • Sections / Elevations
  • Cable and conduit plans and details
  • Ground grid design and details
  • Foundation plans and details
  • Structural plans and details
  • Control enclosure design and details
  • Bills of Materials
  • Site visits
  • Support QA / QC for deliverables to clients.
  • Learn, understand, and adhere to client standards and processes, working individually or within a team to complete complex and technically challenging designs.
  • Occasional travel.

Required Education / Experience

  • BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree from an accredited university, preferably with a power option.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles.
  • Good command of English language, with strong written and oral communication skills to work effectively with team members and clients.

Desired Education / Experience

  • Experience with electrical utility substations and familiarity with substation design (Electrical, Protection & Controls)
  • P.Eng or eligible for P.Eng in BC
