Overview

We are a family-owned Kitchen and Bathroom renovation business located in North Vancouver. Most of our jobs are located on the North Shore and Vancouver.

Role

We are currently looking for a skilled Sub-Contracted General Carpenter for various residential projects. This is not a full-time position; you work per project with flexible schedules. This is ideal for someone who is already working as an independent trade and needs to fill their schedule. The ideal person will have hands-on experience as a general carpenter with several years of experience working independently. You will be working in our client\'s homes and may need to interact with clients, so you will need to have excellent people skills and the ability to work in the presence of clients and other trades.

Responsibilities

• Interpreting blueprints and sketches
• Framing (structural and non-structural, wood and steel stud)
• Installation of subfloors
• Minor concrete work
• Installing windows and doors
• Minor exterior siding modifications
• Drywall and waterproof boarding
• Installing bathtubs
• Minor ductwork modifications
• Insulation and vapour barrier
• Firestopping
• Framing a fireplace
• Ability to identify and solve problems effectively (e.g., structural issues and design challenges)
• Ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines
• Ability to keep a clean job site
• Strong communication skills to coordinate with the project manager

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years experience as a General Carpenter
• Have your own WCB coverage
• Own a reliable vehicle
• Own tools and equipment kept in optimal working condition
• Follow blueprints and sketches to ensure quality of installation
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work well independently with little to no supervision
• Framing for walls, doors, windows, fireplaces, kitchen hood fans, bathrooms etc
• Strong understanding of building codes, permits, safety regulations
• Ability to install doors, windows, mouldings, trims etc
• Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and solve construction-related problems effectively
• Comfortable with a flexible work schedule that is not full-time
• Experience with carpentry for residential renovations
