Craft Alliance

Founded in 1964, Craft Alliance is a nonprofit art center dedicated to nurturing creativity and engagement, educating and enriching our community through contemporary craft. Located in the Delmar Maker District of St. Louis, Missouri, Craft Alliance offers exhibitions, education classes for all skill levels, free community programming, residencies, and gallery shop.

Position:

The Studios Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operations and safety of the Education Center studios (glass, fiber, metals, wood, print, blacksmithing, glass and clay), coordinates communications with faculty, assists with the Third Friday events, Student & Faculty Sale and exhibitions. The Studio Coordinator works with a core group of faculty members and collaborates broadly with members of the Education Team.

Strong Candidates will have:

* The minimum requirement is a Bachelor of Arts with two years of work experience.

* Knowledge of inventory control, resource management and reporting required.

* Knowledge of Ceramic/Glass/Metal Studio best practices with the willingness to learn other studio areas.

* Teaching experience with a variety of students in both traditional and non-traditional settings is preferred.

* Experience of background in craft or visual arts.

* Strong oral and written communication skills.

* Basic computer skills – (Microsoft Suite, Donorview)

* Demonstrated ability to plan and implement programs and projects.

* Strong resource and time management skills.

* The ability to travel within the St. Louis Region.

* Prepared to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities & Duties:

Studio Coordination

* Oversight of all studios.

* Develop and maintain studios materials inventories in coordination with Faculty.

* Develop and maintain studios equipment maintenance schedules.

* Develop and maintain a list of studio monitors.

* Assist with the organization of the Student/Faculty sales.

* Prepare the studios for guest artists and workshops.

* Perform routine maintenance and repair on all studio equipment.

* Schedules clay studio kilns, load, fire, and unload student work.

* Acts as resource person for student questions.

* Manages inventories and materials for studios and reorders supplies as needed.

* Schedules and supervises Clay studios monitors and oversees all studio monitors as needed.

* Assigns monitor duties (e.g., clay reclamation, glaze mixing, weighing metals, etc.).

* Trains and provides safety information for faculty in the use of studio equipment.

* Facilitates tours, programming or other events as a representative of Craft Alliance.

* Manages annual equipment inventory lists.

* Budget tracking (research and maintain lists of preferred vendors for supplies and equipment).

* Orders studio equipment and supplies in consultation with the Education & Programs Director and other staff as needed.

* Assists with exhibition installation and deinstallation.

* Provides weekly reports as needed.

* Collaborates with the Education Manager to establish a budget and expense tracking for the Community Programs.

* Attends all Education and staff meetings.

* Accepts other duties as assigned.

Relationships:

* Reports to the Education & Programs Director.

* Is part of the Education and Programs team and works collaboratively with a Facilities Manager, Registrar, and Education Manager. Works across departments with Development and Communication and Finance.

* Supervises Studio Monitors and works with teaching faculty

Salary is commensurate with experience—Salary Range: $38,000-$42,000
