Job summary

Northern Nishnawbe Education Council (NNEC) is seeking a Transition Coordinator to support students transitioning from high school into post-secondary education, trades, or employment. The role involves coordinating services across DFCPFFNHS and Wahsa Distance Education Centre, based in Sioux Lookout or Thunder Bay.

The position requires Ontario teaching certification, knowledge of First Nations communities, and strong interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

• Ontario Intermediate/Senior Teacher Certificate of Qualifications is required.
• Member of the Ontario Teachers College.
• Background and sensitivity to First Nations history, culture, and student issues.

Responsibilities

• Act as liaison between home education authority and receiving school and between school systems.
• Develop and maintain contact with students and families to support needs and success.
• Assist students and families to plan for attendance, belonging, and self-esteem through peer support.
