Job description

Title: Student Support Services/Well-Being Coordinator - Secondary

Start Date: September 2025

Posting Overview:
Reporting to the System Coordinator of Student Support Services/Well-Being, the Student Support Services/Well-Being Coordinator will support a group of schools to coordinate programs and support the implementation of the tiered model. Working within a coaching model, the Coordinator will build capacity with resource teachers and school teams to implement tiered supports and interventions through scheduled in-school support, modeling, professional development, and collaboration with Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and multi-disciplinary team members.

The Coordinator will:
• Ensure implementation of Board policies and Ministry regulations, and complete required documentation;
• Engage with community agencies and services;
• Support a family of schools on issues related to Special Education and Programs;
• Attend evening meetings;
• Handle responsibilities related to Identification, Placement, and Review Committee and Special Education as outlined in the Ontario Education Act;
• Be willing to become certified as a Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) trainer to support BMS philosophy and capacity building;
• Provide coaching support to schools, including lunch and learns and after-school professional development.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification;
  • Special Education Part 1 minimum required;
  • Special Education Part 2 and/or Special Education Specialist preferred;
  • Additional qualifications in Mathematics and/or Literacy preferred;
  • Experience as a Resource Teacher or Special Classroom Teacher is an asset;
  • Participation in secondary school initiatives such as Multi-disciplinary Teams, Guidance support, Literacy and Math programs, and others is an asset;
  • Knowledge of current Special Education legislation is an asset;
  • Leadership skills including organization, planning, communication, human relations, problem-solving, and teamwork;
  • Experience with coaching models, Behaviour Management Systems, ABA, trauma-informed practices are assets;
  • Willingness to travel throughout the District is required.

    Position Effective Date & Length:
    Available September 2025 for a three-year term, pending budget approval. School assignments to be determined. Salary according to Collective Agreement (Level 1).
