University of British Columbia Okanagan invites applications for an Academic and Career Advisor. This role contributes to a centralized Academic & Career Advising unit serving students across UBC Okanagan, supporting academic progress and career development.

Advisors may function as generalists or faculty specialists, delivering guidance on degree planning, work-integrated learning, and engagement programs while collaborating with campus units to help students succeed and stay enrolled.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
• Minimum of four to five years of experience.
• Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Advise students on academic, personal and career goals.
• Advise students on work-integrated learning and skill-building opportunities.
• Discuss job search strategies and labour market information for students and alumni.
• Assist with course selection to meet degree requirements.
• Interpret and advise on University policies and procedures.
• Support faculty and students with academic progression issues and graduations eligibility.
• Develops knowledge of worldwide educational systems for exchange or study abroad programs.
• Evaluate student requests to study off-campus or adapt programs as needed.
• Identify students in crisis and provide guidance to on-campus support services.
