Job summary

UBC is seeking an Academic Advisor in Vancouver for a fixed-term leave replacement within Arts Academic Advising. You will support roughly 12,000 domestic and international students, guiding program choices, degree requirements and career planning.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Arts Academic Advising, you will coordinate recruitment, outreach and transition efforts for international students, while contributing to information technology applications and advising operations.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline and 4–5 years of related experience.
• Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Willingness to travel outside Canada.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate and implement advising services and policies for Arts.
• Provide academic advising and program planning for approx 12,000 students.
• Participate in recruitment and outreach activities for international and domestic students.
• Coordinate transition and retention programs for international students.
• Supervise student staff and contribute to budgeting.
