Duties and Responsibilities
- Focus on improving instruction and meeting the needs of the learner
- Nurture, support, and guide young learners
- Develop IEP for identified students
- Conduct formal and informal ongoing assessment of students
- Implement IEP through ongoing direct and indirect service
- Incorporate appropriate technology and media in planning
- Schedule and provide programming for teacher assistants
- Coordinate IEP conferences
- Apply and submit low incidence funding applications, Jordans Principle applications
- Facilitate learning activities both within the classroom setting and outdoors
- Participate in co-curricular school activities
- Promote and maintain high standards of behaviour, respect, and safety within the classroom
- Support families with open, ongoing communication
- Assist with Volunteer programs and cross-age and peer-tutoring programs
- Assist in report writing for High-Cost Special Education Program
Position Qualifications
- Possess or be in application of a valid SK Teaching Certificate
- Possess a Bachelors degree or higher qualification in education
- Models a strong work ethic as well as high standards of commitment
- Fosters school mission, values, and sense of community through student-centered decisions
- Effectively communicates with staff, parents, and students
- Maintains professionalism through all school interactions and activities
- Values continual growth and development of school programs and curriculum
