Job description

Student Recruitment Officer

Primary Purpose: This position is part of the University of Saskatchewan’s (USask) central Student Recruitment team, supporting prospective students through the recruitment, admission, and pre-arrival/arrival phases of the student lifecycle, to help the University reach its enrollment goals.

Nature of Work: Reporting to the Recruitment Coordinator and Director of Student Recruitment, this role collaborates with various units across USask, including Admissions, Transfer Credit, and Prospective Student Services. The candidate should be adaptable to working in a fast-paced, data-driven, and technology-rich environment, with the ability to handle shifting priorities, deadlines, and multitasking. Flexibility for travel, including possessing a valid driver’s license, passport, and visas, is required. The role involves building professional relationships internally and externally, exercising judgment, and understanding international markets and visa trends.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and deliver presentations to prospective students and stakeholders, both in-person and virtually, and contribute to promotional materials and digital strategies.
  2. Coordinate and participate in school visits, education fairs, campus tours, and recruitment events, ensuring accurate reporting.
  3. Provide information on admission requirements, programs, scholarships, and campus life to prospective students and families.
  4. Build relationships and deliver excellent customer service to influencers such as parents, counselors, agents, and partners.
  5. Utilize RMS-Recruit to manage events and track prospective student interactions through the recruitment funnel.
  6. Maintain ongoing contact with prospects via email, phone, in-person, and CRM systems.
  7. Assist in planning and executing recruitment and student transition events, including Open House and Indigenous Student Experience Day.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education: Undergraduate degree required; preference for University of Saskatchewan graduates.

Experience: Demonstrated intercultural competencies, relationship-building skills, and experience with data analysis, event planning, public speaking, and market research. Knowledge of campus services is an asset.

Skills: Effective communication with diverse backgrounds, relationship management, event planning, creativity, data analysis, and multilingual abilities are assets. Proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Zoom, and familiarity with recruitment platforms is required.

Additional Requirements: Willingness to travel, valid driver’s license, passport, and ability to lift 50 lbs. Evening and weekend work may be necessary.
