Bird Construction in Mississauga is seeking a Student Project Coordinator for a 4-, 8-, or 12-month co-op starting January 2027. You will independently manage your area of responsibility with support from a Supervisor and Technical Mentor on GTA projects.

You are pursuing Civil/Mechanical/Structural/Industrial Engineering with a GPA of 3.0+ and will gain hands-on experience coordinating drawings, field work, scheduling, and sub-trade coordination in a dynamic construction environment.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Civil, Mechanical, Structural, or Industrial Engineering program.
• Will complete at least one more semester after internship and maintain GPA of 3.0+.
• Ability to lead and adapt in a changing environment.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Residency or valid work permit to work for Bird Construction.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate drawings and scope/trades for projects.
• Review trade quotes, verify quantities, hours and rates.
• Participate in project meetings and update deficiency logs.
• Update field drawings and produce as-built drawings.
• Schedule updates and monitor manpower productivity.
• Coordinate sub-trade work and supervise field coordination.

Student Project CoordinatorJob Description SummaryOur internships and Co-ops are designed to provide you with a business relevant project that will allow you to independently manage your own area of responsibility, while receiving support from an assigned Supervisor and Technical Mentor. We’ll help you discover your strengths and development areas in a challenging, fun, and supportive work environment.Projects are scoped in alignment with your term length, and typically focus on a current construction project.What You Will Be Working OnWe are seeking a student to join us for a 4, 8 or 12 month co-op position starting in January 2027. This role will have positions available throughout GTA, ON.Project Coordination:Coordinate drawings and work specific scope/trades.Review trade quotes, verify material quantities, hours, and rates.Participate in project meetings.Conduct deficiency walks and update deficiency logs.Issue warranties.Take and coordinate progress photos.Update field drawings and produce as-built drawings.Field Coordination:Perform quantity takeoffs.Coordinate sub-trade work.Verify site conditions and coordinate with drawings.Supervise sub-trade work.Set up and maintain record keeping.Layout site lines and grades using total station.Scheduling:Update project schedules.Create manual schedules and update schedulesObtain scheduling information from sub-trades.Create and maintain graphical schedulingMonitor manpower productivity.This job description outlines the general nature and level of work performed by the Student Project Coordinator.
