Job summary

Spectacle in Toronto is seeking a Student Optician who blends clinical knowledge with high-fashion service. You’ll be the face of our brand, guiding clients through frame selection and vision care while learning from experienced professionals.

You’ll measure pupillary distance and assist with frame adjustments, collaborate with Optometrists, and contribute to a seamless patient journey. This role offers mentorship, flexible part-time hours, and opportunities to grow in a luxury-retail

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Opticianry program and seeking to fulfill clinical hours in a high-end retail environment.
• Sales experience in a service or retail setting is required.
• Background in retail, management, fashion, or design is a plus.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Availability for a retail schedule, including weekends, some evenings, and events.

Responsibilities

• Provide concierge-level service, guiding clients through frame selection that matches prescription and personality.
• Demonstrate product knowledge as an eyewear stylist aware of face shapes, color theory, and bridge fits.
• Assist with pupillary distance measurement, vertex distance, and pantoscopic tilt; perform frame adjustments and minor repairs.
• Brainstorm ways to optimize the customer journey and improve store flow.
• Communicate Spectacle’s core values and brand philosophy to customers seeking more than just glasses.
• Collaborate with Optometrists and senior Opticians for smooth handoffs from exam to retail floor.

About the Role

What You’ll Do

• Elevate the Experience: Provide "concierge-level" service, guiding clients through the journey of selecting frames that perfectly match their prescription and personality.
• Curate Style: Demonstrate exceptional product knowledge, acting as an expert stylist who understands face shapes, color theory, and the technical nuances of bridge fits.
• Master the Technical: Assist in precisely measuring pupillary distance, vertex distance, and pantoscopic tilt. You’ll also handle frame adjustments and minor repairs with a "steady-hand" finesse.
• Think Like an Owner: Brainstorm creative ways to optimize the customer journey and improve store flow.
• Bridge the Gap: Communicate Spectacle’s core values and independent brand philosophies to customers who are looking for something more than "just a pair of glasses."
• Collaborate: Work seamlessly with our Optometrists and senior Opticians to ensure a flawless handoff from the exam room to the retail floor.
