Student Management Systems Administrator

Job Location: Catholic Education Centre, 46 Alliance Blvd., Barrie, Ontario

Position Type / Hours: Full-Time Permanent. Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm, 35 hours weekly, plus overtime as required.

Annual Compensation: $76,296 to $95,677 commensurate with education, skills and experience.

The Student Management Systems Administrator is responsible for planning, coordinating, organizing, administering, and controlling Board Student Management System including database definition, protection, and documentation, enabling the achievement of Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board’s vision and mission.

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  1. Legal and/or Legislative Compliance: Ensure compliance with Ministry of Education regulations for data collection and reporting, and collaborate with school staff to maintain accurate and timely submissions.
  2. Coordinating the Student Management System Operations: Oversee daily operations of the Student Management System, ensuring system stability, maintenance, and prompt issue resolution.
  3. Acting as a Subject Matter Expert: Provide expert advice on data stewardship, Ministry reporting requirements, and student information tracking, ensuring accurate and timely data reporting.
  4. Monitoring Data Quality and Accuracy: Ensure student data accuracy through regular checks, audits, and validation procedures, and provide guidance on best practices for data entry.
  5. Project Management: Develop project plans and timelines for implementing new or modified technology, collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure smooth execution.
  6. Providing Training and Support to School Staff: Develop and implement training programs to ensure school staff are proficient in using the Student Management System.
  7. Customizing and Configuring the System: Work with stakeholders to configure and customize the Student Management System to meet changing requirements.
  8. Other Duties: Participate in additional activities such as developing documentation, leading training sessions, and ensuring system security as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

The successful candidate will bring the following skills and experiences to the role:

  1. 3 year college diploma or university degree in computer science, information systems, or related field plus relevant ongoing education and applicable certifications.
  2. 5 years related experience in applications support, data and database systems administration, preferably in an education environment.
