Position Overview

The City is hiring summer students to prepare, maintain, and ensure our sports fields are ready for use.

Responsibilities
  1. Mark lines on ball diamonds and other sports fields using line marking equipment (chalk or paint).
  2. Groom ball diamond infields; back drag infields using small tractor.
  3. Provide evening and weekend support; lock buildings, open/close restrooms.
  4. Collect and remove debris around the city, including emptying garbage receptacles.
  5. Operate grass cutting equipment (push mower, small tractor with attachment), leaf blower, and gas-powered line trimmer.
  6. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Valid MTO “G2” class driver’s license in good standing; must provide Driver’s Abstract at own expense.
  • Preference given to candidates with a valid MTO “G” class license.
  • Minimum educational level: partial secondary school education.
  • Up to 1 month of related experience.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and follow directions.
  • Ability to perform outdoor physical labour in varying conditions.
  • Strong customer service skills and willingness to help others.
  • Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
