Position Overview

The City of Kitchener is hiring summer students to assist with Parks Infrastructure and Amenities, focusing on maintenance and cleanup of trails, playgrounds, courts, and outdoor furniture.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining trails, playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball courts, and outdoor furniture.
  • Help maintain resilient surfaces for playgrounds.
  • Assist staff with graffiti removal.
  • Maintain trails and prune overgrown vegetation.
  • Empty garbage receptacles and remove debris at various locations.
  • Keep play equipment and trail systems free from litter and debris.
  • Operate gas-powered equipment such as leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, line trimmers, and side-by-side UTVs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Note

Requirements

  • Valid MTO G2 class driver’s license; G class preferred. Must provide a Driver’s Abstract at own expense.
  • Partial secondary education or equivalent.
  • Up to 1 month of related experience.
  • Ability to work in a team and follow directions.
  • Ability to perform physical labor.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Reliable with a positive attitude and employment record.
