Cameco, located in northern Saskatchewan, seeks a student lab technologist for the Key Lake chem lab. You will perform day-to-day analyses of samples using wet chemistry and instrumental methods, while supporting QA/QC and corrective actions in a safety-focused environment.

The role requires rotating shifts and a site commute by aircraft; you must be returning to school after the work term. This four-month, full-time term runs May 2027 through August 2027 at Key Lake.

Key Lake, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s largest high-grade uranium mill. The uranium milled at Key Lake is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to power a secure energy future.

The Role

The student, lab technologist positions reside in the Key Lake chem lab, under technical services and directly reports to the laboratory supervisor.

In this role, you will:

• Be responsible for day-to-day analysis of laboratory samples by wet chemistry and instrumental methods.
• Participate in quality assurance and quality control activities within the lab operation and assist with corrective and preventative action planning and implementation.
• Perform basic maintenance of analytical instrumentation in the lab and work on daily operational and data analysis.

Required:

• you are a third- or fourth-year university student currently enrolled in Chemistry or a second-year chemical technology student ;
• effective communication, analytical and interpersonal skills;
• demonstrate resolute attitude towards safety;
• coachable, open to feedback and a team player;
• work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft; and
• you must be returning to school for the academic semester following your work term with Cameco.

Recommended:

• experience or familiar with XRF, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, GC, and other analytical instrumentation; and
• experience or familiar with Microsoft Suite and SAP LIMS.

Salary Range: $71,311 - $87,770
