Cameco is seeking a student in computer science or a related program to join the IT Security team on a 12–16 month term. The role focuses on supporting the information security program, incident investigations, and security monitoring to safeguard global IT systems.

The successful candidate must be returning to school after the work term and should be eager to learn cybersecurity basics while collaborating with a team in a hybrid work setup.

The Role

Cameco is looking for a student who is passionate about IT security to work with a group of talented and dedicated individuals to ensure our global IT systems are secure and controlled. Reporting to the Manager, IT Security and Risk, you will play a critical role in contributing to the success of the business technology services (BTS) department and their goal to provide technological solutions that maximize business value while minimizing risk.

In this role, you will:

• Support the implementation of Cameco’s information security program and promote IT security awareness.
• Assist with investigating IT security incidents and monitoring systems for unauthorized activity or external threats.
• Support security configuration reviews to help ensure systems meet established security requirements.
• Contribute to security projects and process improvements.

Required

• you are a third- or fourth-year university student currently enrolled in computer science or a related program; and
• you must be returning to school for the academic semester following your work term with Cameco.

Recommended

• basic understanding of computer networks and IT security principles;
• exposure to or interest in learning cybersecurity tools, risk management and governance;
• familiarity with system administration and managing user access; and
• ability to learn new skills quickly and work collaboratively in a team environment.

This is a 12 to 16-month f ull-time temporary student term, starting May 2027 until end of May 2028 / August 2028 .

You will have the opportunity to work hybrid in this position. The details of this flex work arrangement will be discussed with you in the recruitment process.

Salary Range: $60,899 - $74,952
