Term of App't:Monday - Friday, 7 hours per day

Salary

Classification 17, $32.73 - $33.74 per hour in accordance with the BCGEU Support Collective Agreement. Temporary employees also receive an additional $0.58 per hour in lieu of benefits, and 6% vacation pay is paid out with each pay.

Description

The Student Housing Manager oversees all aspects of the day-to-day housing operations including room assignments and building access, rent collections, communication/liaison with residents (verbal and written), assessing maintenance requirements (including furniture replacement), working within budget guidelines, and processing financial requests (purchase orders, cheque requisitions, and VISA reconciling), record keeping, and postal services. Responsible for informing residents of the expectations of living in Student Housing, ensuring compliance with housing contracts and policies, and administering disciplinary measures according to the "Student Housing Guide and Handbook", while promoting an environment that develops a sense of community that enhances student housing life. As the primary person responsible for student life in housing you will be a leader to the Student Housing Assistants and will onboard and provide them with direction during their contract. This position will also maintain relationships with other government agencies and companies in the community to maintain our tenant population during times when the student population is low.

Qualifications

A minimum Grade 12 education is required with a diploma in business management, hotel management, student affairs or a similar area of study. The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years of work experience in property management and/or public administration (hotel/hospitality/conference services) with supervision experience. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication (both written and oral), and conflict resolution skills are required. As well, the ability to work within a team environment is essential. Must be proficient in the use of computers for data entry and word processing, as well, be cognizant of the dynamics of post-secondary students. A current driver's license is required (Class 7 is acceptable).
