Job summary

Parks Canada - Woodside National Historic Site, in Kitchener, Ontario, is seeking motivated students for a fall 2026 position. The role involves learning and delivering education programs, presenting interpretive demonstrations, leading guided tours, and assisting with special events.

You will also work with the site's point-of-sale system and perform custodial duties. The position is part-time from October 3, 2026 to December 20, 2026, with an hourly wage of $18.69 to $18.84 CAD.

Qualifications

• Must be a current secondary or post-secondary student or recent graduate (last 4 months).

• Able to work flexible shifts including evenings and weekends; outdoor work in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Learn and deliver education programs and present interpretive demonstrations.
• Lead guided tours and assist with developing and presenting special events.
• Act as an ambassador for the site on-site and off-site.
• Assist with the site’s point-of-sale system and related duties.
• Perform custodial tasks including daily washroom cleaning, grounds cleaning and litter/pakking; handle recycling.
• Support other related site activities as needed.

Duties
Responsible for learning and delivering education programs, presenting interpretive demonstrations, leading guided tours, assisting with the development and presentation of special events, acting as an ambassador for the site (both on-site and off-site), as well as other related activities. Additionally, working on the site's point of sale system and some custodial duties. This includes but is not limited to the daily cleaning of washrooms, grounds cleaning and litter picking, emptying of trash and recycling receptacles.

Intent of the process
We are currently looking for motivated students to work at Woodside National Historic Site in Kitchener, ON. Woodside National Historic Site was the boyhood home of William Lyon Mackenzie King, Canada's tenth and longest-serving Prime Minister. This Victorian home, filled with King family heirlooms and period reproductions, is a portal to the Victorian era in Canada. Don't miss this great opportunity to gain work experience in one of Canada's best National Historic Sites.The intent of this process is to hire a student for fall 2026. The exact number of positions available is to be determined. Opportunities are for 15 hours per week (weekends).* Important: We do not offer staff housing or accommodations.

• Depending on the position, possession of a valid class G1, G2 or G driver's license;
• Work shiftwork, including evening, weekends, and holidays;
• Wear a Parks Canada uniform as per the uniform policy and/or dress in period costume as per Parks Canada requirements;
• Handle historic weapons and artifacts;
• Work outdoors in varying temperatures and inclement weather;
