A Canadian university in North Bay is seeking a Student Experience Coordinator to implement retention projects aimed at underrepresented students. This role involves collaboration with various departments to enhance education participation. The ideal candidate will have experience in outreach programs and strong organizational skills. The position offers flexible hours and encourages applicants from diverse backgrounds.
Reporting to the Manager, Access and Belonging, the Student Experience Coordinator, Access and Belonging, is responsible for implementing student success and retention projects. These include outreach, transition, and retention programming aimed at students who are demographically underrepresented, at risk of attrition, or the first in their family to attend post-secondary education.
This position focuses on increasing post-secondary education participation and retention among individuals likely to face greater access challenges, such as first-generation students, rural residents, racialized groups, 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, new Canadians, people with disabilities, CAS-supported youth, students with lower high school GPAs, or those returning to education.
The role involves collaboration with the Registrar’s office for outreach to potential students who may not consider post-secondary education as an option. It also includes working with Nipissing University’s Recruitment and Marketing teams to develop projects and materials to boost participation among underrepresented groups.
Based on research in student development, leadership theory, and democratic principles, the Coordinator will develop and execute events and initiatives promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion for all students, including distance and on-campus learners. The duties encompass planning, implementation, and evaluation of these activities. The Coordinator will also serve as a resource for faculty and staff to support inclusive student experiences.
The hours may vary and will be flexible according to departmental needs, with advance notice provided for any schedule changes as per Article 22.02 of the collective agreement.
Please submit your application letter and resume as a single document via email to careers@nipissingu.ca by 4:00 p.m., Friday, August 22, 2025.
Hiring is subject to budget approval. In accordance with Article 12.05 (b) of the OPSEU Collective Agreement, internal applicants will be considered first. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews.
