Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic, relationship-focused individual to join our team as the Student Events & Volunteer Engagement Coordinator. This role is responsible for leading the successful delivery of the World of Choices career exploration events across Northern Alberta and for stewarding key relationships with schools, post-secondary institutions, corporate partners, banks, skilled trades organizations, entrepreneurs, and volunteers.

As a frontline ambassador for JA, the Coordinator will play a pivotal role in expanding our reach and deepening our impact. By growing and engaging a strong volunteer network, increasing student participation, and delivering inspiring and well-executed events, the Coordinator will help ensure every participant experiences the full value and inspiration of JA’s mission.

Key Responsibilities:

World of Choices Program Coordination:

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of multiple World of Choices events annually across Northern Alberta.
  • Maintain strong, ongoing communication with educators, students, volunteers, and partners to ensure seamless event delivery.
  • Lead the presentation and facilitation of program content during events, ensuring an engaging and impactful experience for all participants. Develop and distribute promotional materials, event guides, and participant communications to support engagement and ensure participants are well-informed. Provide event planning and logistical support for other events such as Big Pitch, Company Program Executive training, etc.
  • Collect, analyze, and report on program impact data to funders and stakeholders.

Volunteer Engagement and Relationship Stewardship:

  • Actively develop and manage relationships with volunteers from corporate groups, banks, post-secondary institutions, trades organizations, entrepreneurial networks, and community partners.
  • Steward long-term relationships with volunteers to build a strong, reliable volunteer base and drive engagement across JA’s program suite.
  • Identify and cultivate new partnerships with schools, organizations, and corporate sponsors to enhance program offerings.
  • Support cross-program volunteer needs, ensuring integration of volunteers into various JA programs as needed.

Program Support and Administration:

  • Maintain accurate records of volunteer participation, event metrics, and partnership engagements using JA’s CRM system.
  • Support broader program delivery and special events as needed, including occasional in-school facilitation.
  • Assist in preparing grant reports, and impact stories for funders.
  • Actively participate in organization-wide initiatives to support Junior Achievement’s mission and strategic goals.

In addition to the outlined responsibilities, the Coordinator is expected to actively participate in events and opportunities that support the overall mission and goals of Junior Achievement. These additional duties are essential for fostering positive relationships with students, volunteers, schools, and the community at large and contribute to the overall success of Junior Achievement.

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational skills and a high degree of motivation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable transportation to travel within the Greater Edmonton Area.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Passion for working with youth, community stakeholders, and volunteers.
  • Positive team player with strong conflict management skills.
  • Proactive, results-oriented approach to event and relationship management. Detail-oriented with the ability to see the big picture.
  • Public speaking and facilitation skills.
  • Marketing, communications, and/or customer service experience is an asset. Comfortable speaking publicly to various audiences.
  • Ability to represent JA professionally with diverse audiences including business leaders, educators, and students.
