New Flyer invites motivated Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering students to join as a Student Engineer Intern in Summer 2027. You will support engineering, manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives in a dynamic transportation manufacturing environment.

You will work with experienced engineers to help solve technical challenges, assist with design, testing, and documentation, and contribute to projects that drive quality, efficiency, and sustainability.

Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering students to join our team as a Student Engineer Intern. In this role, you will support engineering, manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives while gaining hands‑on experience in a dynamic transportation manufacturing environment.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Student Engineer Intern supports the Engineering team by contributing to product design, testing, technical analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role provides hands‑on experience in a manufacturing environment while helping develop innovative, high‑quality transportation solutions.

• Use CAD software (e.g., NX, SolidWorks) to develop and refine designs.
• Assist in creating and releasing engineering drawings and documentation.
• Conduct engineering calculations and research to support design decisions.
• Prepare for and support testing activities, including data collection and analysis.
• Collaborate with the team to improve processes and drive innovation.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

• Currently enrolled in a recognized post- secondary Mechanical or Electrical Engineering program.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize competing demands, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Basic understanding of engineering principles, design processes, and problem‑solving methodologies.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with engineering and design software such as Siemens NX (Unigraphics), AutoCAD, or similar CAD platforms is considered an asset.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality, accuracy, and continuous learning.
• Previous manufacturing, production, co‑op, internship, laboratory, or engineering‑related experience is considered an asset.

Standard Work Schedule: Day Shift | Monday - Friday | 7:30AM – 4:00PM
