Job summary

General Dynamics Land Systems–Canada is seeking a Design Engineering student to support full life cycle design tasks within an assigned subsystem at our on-site facility. The role assists in design fit, form, and functionality while ensuring compliance with requirements across the team.

The position starts May 2027 for a 12–16 month term. Candidates must be enrolled in a university or college program in engineering, be in good standing, and able to travel (5% Canada, 5% US/International) with

  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel (5% Canada) and (5% US & International) with passport.
  • Must meet anthropometrical size requirements for confined spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Complete discrete assigned design tasks while keeping supervisor informed on progress.
  • Ensure all designs are peer reviewed by technical lead or mentor.
  • Identify and share opportunities for self development.
  • Maintain active and professional communication with all stakeholders.
  • Share continuous improvement ideas.
  • Support quality and RCCA related activities as requested.

Job description

The pay range for this position is $27.25-$27.75 per hour.

The anticipated start date for the role is May 2027, with a preferred 12 - 16 month term. However, a variety of start dates and durations for this role are possible. Feel free to indicate your availability on your application.

At General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada, we manufacture Light Armoured Vehicles in our on-site production facility. The Design Engineering student role supports full life cycle design activity on any assigned tasks within an assigned subsystem and will assist in overcoming design challenges. In addition, to assist the team in design fit, form, & functionality, ensuring compliance to requirements across the team.

Required Qualifications
  • Student in good standing and on track to achieving a University degree or College Diploma in relevant engineering discipline
  • Superior oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel (5% Cdn) and (5% US & International) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport
  • Must be able to meet Anthropometrical Size Requirements for confined space
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with Teamcenter Active Workspace or similar PLM software.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment and/or hands on practical experience.
  • Proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Knowledge of Configuration Management principles.
