Reporting to the Coordinator of Literacy and Educational Technology, the P-5 Student-Centered Literacy Coach is a regional position. Coaching support will focus on intentional and student-centered planning, instruction, and assessment in literacy. The coach will be responsible for working regionally with administrators and supporting teachers within a coaching framework in implementing best practices in literacy. The coach will model effective strategies for instruction, assessment, and inclusive practices to support learners. The coach will work with teachers in co-planning, co-teaching, and post-lesson reflection, including the discussion and analysis of student work, tracking literacy achievement, and establishing student-centered goals. The coach, as part of a team, will track, assess, and evaluate the effectiveness of the student-centered coaching strategy.
In addition to coaching, the position will provide ELS (Early Literacy Support) intervention support in the early elementary classrooms using a co-teaching model, and when necessary, during small group intervention outside of the classroom.
In addition to providing support at the school level, coaches will also collaborate with other coaches and provide leadership related to DEECD/Regional literacy priorities.
Provide 3 professional/supervisory, work-related references, their email addresses, and their phone numbers in your SuccessFactors application. References must be able to speak to an applicant’s teaching abilities. AVRCE will require referees to provide reference checks prior to noon on June 30.
