About The Role

As an Engineering Intern, you will support key procurement initiatives related to raw and active materials, battery components, and energy market analysis. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to analyze supplier data, evaluate market trends, and contribute to cost and energy optimization strategies.

This is a flex hybrid work structure, where employees can work both remotely and on-site at our St. Thomas location. This is a 4 month co-op role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Raw & Active Material Sourcing
  • Assist in evaluating suppliers for key battery materials such as lithium, nickel, graphite, and electrolytes.
  • Support technical assessments and benchmarking of material specifications and sourcing options.
  • Battery Component Procurement
  • Collaborate with engineering and procurement teams to analyze sourcing strategies for components like separators, casings, and current collectors.
  • Help maintain supplier databases and support RFQ (Request for Quotation) processes.
  • Energy Market & Invoicing Analysis
  • Research Ontario’s energy markets, including IESO pricing structures, demand response programs, and renewable energy opportunities.
  • Analyze energy invoices and consumption data to identify cost-saving opportunities and support sustainability goals.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Develop dashboards and reports to track procurement KPIs, supplier performance, and market trends.
  • Present findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders.

What You Bring To The Team

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical) or a related technical field with an accredited co-op.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel; experience with data tools (e.g., Power BI, Python, SQL) is a plus.
  • Interest in energy systems, supply chain, or sustainable manufacturing.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
