Job summary

Brandon University is seeking a Student Assistant IV in the Academic Skills Centre to support students with course work in mathematics. The role focuses on tutoring core math courses, explaining concepts clearly, and helping students prepare for tests under supervision.

The position emphasises independent work, strong communication, and a student-friendly approach to learning. Hours are 10 per week, with a 4:30 p.m.

Qualifications

• Preference given to current Brandon University students enrolled in graduate program.
• GPA of 2.5 or better.
• Completed coursework in Linear Algebra, Calculus I & II, and Intro to Statistics.
• Ability to tutor Basic (090), Core (091), and Contemporary (152) math courses.
• Strong academic standing in the courses intended to tutor.
• Ability to work and communicate independently and/or with others.
• Strong attention to detail, excellent problem solving skills and self-motivated.
• Demonstrated patience and ability to relate to students with varied learning skills.
• Previous experience in group tutoring or as a lab assistant in the Math Department is an asset.
