Job summary

Brandon University is seeking a Student Assistant IV in the Chemistry Department to provide tutorials for General Chemistry II (18:160) and assist with lab materials and online assignments on LON-CAPA. You will explain concepts and support students with questions and practice problems, fostering problem-solving skills and diverse learning styles.

The role requires availability on Tuesdays from 12:30–1:30 pm and an additional hour on a Monday/Wednesday/Thursday slot.

Qualifications

• Current Brandon University student.
• Chemistry major (3rd year or above) preferred.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work one-on-one or with a group.
• Ability to help students develop their problem solving skills with enthusiasm.
• Demonstrated patience and ability to relate to students with varying learning styles.
• Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
• Previous experience as a lab assistant or group tutor in Chemistry Department is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Offer tutorials on General Chemistry II (18:160) course and lab materials (including online assignments on LON-CAPA)
• Explain concepts and provide support to students with course related questions, assignments and practice problems
• Must be available on Tuesdays from 12:30 to 1:30p.m., and for another 1 hour (between 11:30 and 1:30p.m.) either on Mondays, Wednesdays or Thursdays
