JOB OPPORTUNITY

Position Information


Location: Coquitlam Campus
Salary Range: $71,846 - $115,129 annually. Placement on the faculty salary scale is based on education, professional certification, and experience and will be in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

The Opportunity

The faculty member in this position shares responsibility with the Program Coordinator for the planning and operationalization of the annual Education and Staffing plans for the Psychiatric Nursing department. They are responsible for ensuring staffing requirements are met throughout the year by making decisions for alterations due to leaves or similar circumstances, and are responsible for the enrollment management processes related to program student admissions. This includes reviewing admission requirements, tracking student progression, exit, and re-entry activities. The position also acts as a primary applicant liaison and manages student issues and support in conjunction with Year Coordinators. Additionally, they co-create student-centered engagement activities.

WHAT IT TAKES

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT:

  • Collaborate on program recognition processes
  • Participate in planning activities for the BSPN program
  • Ensure program development aligns with policies, standards, and competencies
  • Maintain currency of program information and website
  • Oversee operational responsibilities during leaves
  • Advise on student issues, processes, and policies

STAFFING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Co-create annual education and staffing plans
  • Develop faculty workload assignments
  • Manage staffing changes and communicate updates
  • Coordinate faculty hiring and orientation processes

STUDENT RELATIONS:

  • Respond to inquiries and coordinate student admissions
  • Review health and immunization forms
  • Manage student exit and re-admission processes
  • Facilitate resolution of student concerns
  • Oversee student tracking systems and graduation processes

DEPARTMENT AND FACULTY RELATIONS:

  • Support resource development and participate in recruitment events

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current RPN/RN registration with BCCNM (RPN preferred)
  • Master's Degree required; Doctorate preferred
  • At least five years of recent teaching experience in psychiatric nursing
  • Clinical nursing experience in various practice areas
  • Leadership, organizational, and project management skills
  • Knowledge of Douglas College Psychiatric Nursing programs and curriculum development
  • Commitment to cultural safety, advocacy, and professional values

Additional Information

This position is effective September 1, 2025, for a one-year term with potential extensions. It includes seven sections of time release for the 2025-2026 academic year.
