An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering for a Laboratory Technician to support the operation of the Structures laboratory and facilitate engineering research. Responsibilities include designing and constructing test rigs, preparing test specimens, planning instrumentation, and basic machining and fabrication.
The post holder will ensure all work complies with safety and procedural standards.
This is a full-time, open-ended position.
You will support experimental projects within the Structures laboratories, including designing, constructing, assembling, and operating equipment.
You will assemble components ranging from small detailed parts to large-scale test specimens for evaluation in test rigs.
You will provide support and advice to academics and researchers, planning and prioritizing work activities with support from the Laboratory Manager.
You will also produce and modify equipment for the laboratory using traditional and modern workshop skills.
