Structural Engineer, Project Lead focussing in mass timber design!

We're seeking a Structural Engineer, Project Lead to join our team in Kitchener. You'll be responsible for structural analysis and design for various building types, including single-family and multi-residential dwellings. As the Project Lead, you'll collaborate with our team to ensure accurate designs and coordinate project tasks within set timelines and budgets. Fieldwork and sealing your own work will also be part of the role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Familiarize yourself with structural engineering guidelines and standards, particularly for wood frame construction.
  • Prepare accurate structural engineering designs and documents, adhering to design requirements.
  • Set up AutoCAD drawings according to company standards and prepare drawings from sketches or mark-ups.
  • Manage project tasks within given timelines and budgets.
  • Stay updated on current techniques, codes, and standards to enhance technical skills.
  • Research and implement changes to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Coordinate with team members on various projects and collaborate with other disciplines.
  • Conduct site investigations and prepare field review reports as needed.
  • Complete other tasks assigned by Senior Engineers/Techs, Team Lead, or Division Manager.

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Structural Engineering from a Canadian university or equivalent.
  • Registered as a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the Professional Engineers of Ontario.
  • 4+ years of experience in structural engineering for buildings, with knowledge of OBC Part 9 (required)
  • Experience with wood frame construction (required)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office 365 Suite; experience with Woodworks is a plus.
  • Knowledge of construction materials and practices is beneficial.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional and personal growth.
