HDR in Toronto is seeking a Structural Section Manager to lead the structural design engineering team, focus on project delivery, team management, and technical excellence. You will manage and mentor engineers and designers, oversee workload, and ensure high-quality structural projects for clients.

You will collaborate with Architecture and other engineering disciplines, support local and national marketing efforts, and uphold QA/QC standards while driving integration across HDR offices.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering is preferred.
• Forward-thinking technical aptitude, including the ability to rigorously audit, validate, and verify AI-generated outputs against core engineering fundamentals and regulations.
• Actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand.
• Prior leadership and management experience.

Responsabilités

• Take responsibility for the daily operations of the Structural section, including staff development, project profitability, team morale, and quality control.
• Function as a Project Manager, taking direct responsibility for production and successful delivery on key structural projects.
• Take administrative responsibility for section staff and lead and coordinate technical services with other groups.
• Support local marketing efforts, including strategic planning, proposal development, and interviews.
• Select, train, develop, and manage technical personnel within the section.
• Work cooperatively with Area and Regional leadership to support local and national marketing and production efforts.
• Implement, monitor, and support company policy and procedures.
• Provide technical leadership in structural analysis, design, and construction-phase services, including the application of relevant codes, standards, and project requirements.
• Implement project QA/QC requirements within the section, coordinate qualified technical reviewers, and ensure review comments are resolved before deliverables are issued.
• Coordinate with the BES Professional Services Leader, project managers, and other Section Managers to forecast workload, align staffing and technical expertise with project needs, and facilitate work-sharing across HDR offices.
• Promote integrated, multidisciplinary design through close collaboration with Architecture and other engineering disciplines, market sectors, and business groups.
• Perform other duties as needed to support the team and our clients.

HDR is seeking a Structural Section Manager to join our growing Building Engineering Services (BES) group in Toronto. In this key leadership position, you will guide our structural design engineering team with a focus on project delivery, team management, and technical excellence.
