The PDG group at Hatch is seeking a Structural Engineering New Graduate with interest in structural analysis and design of heavy industrial building and equipment structures and foundation systems. Reporting to the Structural Discipline Lead Engineer you will support projects globally working from the Sudbury office.

Responsibilities:

  • Work independentlytoapply engineering principles toperformcalculations forstructuralanalysisand designof industrialbuilding and equipment support structures and foundations
  • Workcollaboratively to share the results of yourworkwith senior members of thedisciplineand / or otherHatchgroups
  • Preparecalculation reports to support the resultsyour analysisand design,to be checked by senior colleagues and used tosupportengineeringdocumentsto beusedby internal and external stakeholders
  • Becomeknowledgeableofstructural analytical software and tools, building codes and material design codes,discipline workflows and execution, process building and equipment structureand foundationsystems, and other industrial components / processesyou are assigned toassess
  • Participate inoffice and sitesafety training andinductions as needed to supportoffice andsite activities
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work in other Hatch offices orproject work sites (including remote sites) as needs and opportunities arise

Education and Experience:

  • Must be working towards graduating in 2025/2026, or recently graduated, with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with specialization in Structural Engineering or Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering
  • Excel academically while being actively involved in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community
  • Preferred academic coursesincludeStructuralAnalysis, Structural Mechanics,ReinforcedConcreteDesign,Structural Steel Design, Foundation Design
  • Preferred advanced courses includeStructural Dynamics,Finite Element Analysis, Seismic Design
  • Previousrelevantcoopandsummer work terms or internships in structural engineeringis an asset
  • Academic or work experience withstructural software SAP2000 and/orSTAADPro,MathCAD, and BentleyMicrostationCAD software is an asset
