Job summary

TULLOCH, based in Sault Ste. Marie, ON, is hiring a Structural Engineering Intern to support projects across Ontario. You’ll prepare designs, drawings, and calculations for bridges, buildings, and power facilities, while learning from experienced engineers.

The ideal candidate has a Civil/Structural Engineering degree, 0–3 years’ civil/structural consulting experience, and is proficient in AutoCAD. Travel may be required; you will join a team focused on safety, quality, and client service.

Qualifications

• University degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Registered Civil Engineering Intern.
• 0–3 years in civil/structural consulting.
• Building Code knowledge and BCIN asset is a plus.
• Willing to travel as needed.
• Proficient in AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-engineering inspections and surveys.
• Review technical deliverables including reports, drawings, and calculations.
• Prepare plans, proposals, specs, and permit applications.
• Design structural projects for bridges, buildings, and utilities.
• Assist with tenders, estimations, and cost estimates.
• Participate in public and stakeholder consultations.
• Perform construction inspections and assist with project management.

Based inSault Ste. Marie, ON, theStructural Engineering Internwill report to the Project Manager and will have a wide range of duties. You will be part of a team that offers services to private and government sector clients throughout Ontario and provides engineering solutions for bridges, buildings, and utility scale power generating facilities. This is a new position. The salary range for this position is $75,000 – $92,000 annually.

What You’ll Do:

As part of the TULLOCH Engineering team, you will:

• Perform pre-engineering inspections and surveys
• Complete, check, and review technical deliverables including reports, technical notes, drawings, and engineering calculations
• Prepare plans, proposals, specifications, supporting documents, reports, and permit applications
• Complete preliminary and detailed design and specifications for structural projects (e.g. transportation structures and commercial, residential, and industrial buildings)
• Assist with tenders, proposals, and cost estimates
• Participate in public and stakeholder consultation
• Perform construction inspections
• Assist with project management and construction administration

Who You Are:

• You are a registered Civil Engineering Intern
• You have 0-3 years of experience in the civil/structural consulting industry
• Building Code knowledge and/or a BCIN is considered an asset
• You are proficient in AutoCAD
• Bridge design experience is an asset
• You are willing to travel when necessary
• You can exercise independent judgment within defined parameters and in alignment with business objectives
• You are not afraid to raise your hand when you need help or guidance
