Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Structural Engineer-in-Training to join our dynamic team, with 0-4 years work experience. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and overseeing the construction of various structures and restoration projects, ensuring they are safe, sustainable, and meet all regulatory requirements. This role requires a strong foundation in engineering principles, along with proficiency in industry-standard software tools.

Duties

  • Design and analyze structural components and systems for buildings and restoration projects. Design work in steel, concrete, wood, and masonry, under the supervision of senior staff.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to develop comprehensive project plans.
  • Utilize software such as ETABS, SAFE, Woodworks, STAAD, to aid in designs.
  • Involved in new construction projects and renovation projects from preliminary design throughout construction.
  • Conduct site inspections to monitor construction progress and ensure compliance with design documents.
  • Shop drawing review.
  • Draft technical reports and documentation related to project development and compliance, including but not limited to condition reports, construction review reports, feasibility studies, etc).
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to meet client expectations.

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • 0-4 years work experience within the industry.
  • Proficiency in design software including ETABS, SAFE, STAAD, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Mathcad is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of structural analysis principles and building codes.
  • Previous experience in design and project management is an advantage.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with clients and stakeholders.
  • Experience on construction sites an asset.
  • Secret Level II security clearance with PSPC an asset.
  • Fall hazard certification an asset.
  • Valid Driver's License and access to reliable vehicle is required.
  • Bilingual (English/French) an asset.
