Qualifications

  • Recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Structural/Civil Engineering.
  • Eligible or registered as an Engineer-in-Training with the AGEPA.
  • 0 to 2 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform site condition assessments and provide structural recommendations.

Structural Engineer-in-Training

AtkinsRéalis currently has an opportunity for a Structural Engineer-in-Training to join our Calgary office. Reporting to the Team lead, Building structure, The position offers the ability to work on projects across Canada, all while being supported locally as part of a multidiscipline team of broadly experienced engineers, technologists, and technical design staff. The position offers interesting and challenging work with an opportunity for the selected candidate to progress within the company.

Location – Calgary, Alberta

Your role within the team:

Structural Studies and Assessments (For different active projects)

  • Perform a site condition assessment.

  • Provide structural recommendations for site conditions.

  • Help researching costs of construction items to add to our cost estimate.

  • Support writing reports.

Structural Calculations and Design

  • Determine Loads and preparing calculation reports.

  • Proficient in build ETABS, STAAD models or RISA computer models.

  • Determine component properties based on provided drawings and specifications.

  • Prepare structural specifications. Familiarity and experience with NMS will be considered a plus.

Construction Support

  • Reviewing shop drawings and specifications.

  • Management and Coordination.

  • Coordinate with multidiscipline about structural items.

  • Participate in meetings and take meeting minutes.

The ideal candidate

  • Recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Structural/Civil Engineering.

  • Eligible or registered as an Engineer-in-Training with the AGEPA.

  • 0 to 2 years of relevant experience.

  • Good understanding of structural design basis for concrete, steel and wood for industrial, residential, commercial buildings and federal projects.

  • Knowledge in Structural Software and Site Inspections. Knowledge of CSA standards.

  • Hands-on experience in the use of AutoCAD and Revit is considered a plus. Cost Analysis experience will consider a plus.

  • Excellent English written & communication skills and has the ability to deal with Contractors or Fabricators.

  • Security Clearance will be required.
