EXP is looking for a Structural Engineer, Buildings to join our Hamilton office. While there is an opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects the primary focus of this position is to assist our design team on structural design for the residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional projects.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

• Assist the project principal with managing the projects
• Work with other senior and/or junior engineers collaboratively
• Participate in design meetings with owner, architect, and other consultants
• Participate in construction site meetings
• Conduct site visits during construction to review work for general compliance to structural drawings and contract documents

What your experience looks like

• Degree in Structural Engineering from a recognized university.
• P. Eng. licence is required.
• Preferably 4 to 6 years of experience in structural engineering with a focus on building structural analysis and design.
• Proven experience with complete design of projects including analysis, design, detailing, and construction administration for various building structure projects.
• Experience with managing team of engineers and drafters, and full coordination with the client, architect, and other disciplines,
• Experience with NBCC, CSA standards.
• Experience with American and other international codes and standards is an asset,
• Field experience on construction sites, conducting general reviews for compliance with drawings and specifications, and writing site reports.
• Experience with Etabs, SAFE, SAP and other similar Structural software.
• Team player with the proven ability to work independently and make technical decisions.
• Hard worker, who is eager and willing to assume responsibility.
• Commitment and dedication to client service as well as technical excellence.
• Demonstrated and effective communication skills and the ability to handle changing needs while working effectively with diverse groups.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to determine what work is required and draw rational conclusions from all available information.
• A valid driver’s license is an asset.
