Job summary

GFT is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our Practice or CBG Team, with a hybrid work model and offices in Mississauga or Toronto. The role involves transportation infrastructure projects, including highways, bridges, and traffic engineering, delivering resilient, sustainable design for multimodal roadway systems.

You will support senior engineers in inspection, design, and coordination, using AutoCAD, CSI Bridge, and SAP 2000, while developing detailed drawings and performing structural

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering is required.
• 5 years of relevant full-time work experience.
• Hands-on experience with structural analysis and design software.
• Proficiency with MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Be capable of field inspection activity such as climbing ladders, using man lifts.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong understanding of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code and MTO Structural Manual.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate and communicate effectively with various disciplines.
• Coordinate structural design with project requirements.
• Design concrete and steel members such as slabs, footings, columns and beams.
• Develop structural details.
• Review structural shop drawings.
• Assist with other duties assigned by Discipline Lead Engineers and/or Project Managers.
• Lead structural design for small scale projects.
• Attend seminars to broaden exposure and remain current on the industry.

What You Will Do

GFT is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our Practice or CBG Team! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Mississauga or Toronto office. What You’ll Be Challenged To Do

Successful candidates, working under supervision will assist senior engineers by performing inspection, condition assessment, rehabilitation and structural design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls and transportation related facilities. Work includes steel and concrete design, AutoCAD, and use of structural programs such as CSI Bridge and SAP 2000. Performs structural design calculations for concrete and steel structures and develops structural drawings using AutoCAD and MicroStation.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $86,000.00 - $125,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
