The Opportunity:

A growing engineering consulting firm based in Peterborough, Ontario is looking for a Structural (Bridge) Project Engineer to join its Structural Department. This role offers the chance to work on impactful infrastructure projects that directly affect the safety and quality of life for communities across Ontario. What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Manage bridge and structural engineering projects from planning through completion.
  • Conduct preliminary and detailed design work, including structural calculations and technical specifications.
  • Identify and resolve complex engineering challenges while meeting client and regulatory expectations.
  • Perform site investigations and feasibility studies.
  • Develop project estimates, schedules, budgets, and execution plans.
  • Prepare technical reports and contract documents.
  • Communicate with clients, consultants, regulatory bodies, and internal teams.
  • Monitor and manage project budgets and timelines.
  • Oversee and review the work of junior staff to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Stamp and sign drawings and reports, where required.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on structural/bridge engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario, or nearing licensure.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in structural engineering related to municipal or provincial infrastructure.
  • Strong experience with the design and rehabilitation of bridges, culverts, and retaining walls.
  • Proficiency in relevant design codes and standards, including CSA S6 and MTO guidelines.
  • Skilled in software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, SAP2000, and MIDAS Civil.
  • Familiarity with project delivery for the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) and/or municipalities.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • A solid grasp of structural systems, materials, and technologies.
  • Knowledge of project management principles is considered an asset.
