Your work environment at EXP

EXP is seeking a Structural Engineer to work in the Markham office. While there is an opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, the primary focus of this position is to assist our design team with structural design for residential, commercial, industrial and institutional projects.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

  • Assist with the design of steel, concrete, masonry and structures
  • Work with other senior and junior engineers collaboratively
  • Participate in design meetings with the owner, architect and other consultants
  • Participate in construction site meetings
  • Conduct site visits during construction to review work for general compliance with structural drawings and contract documents

What your experience looks like

  • Degree in Structural Engineering from a recognized university
  • P. Eng. A licence, or in the process of obtaining one, is not required but is considered an asset
  • Preferably 3 to 6 years experience in structural engineering with a focus on structural analysis and design.
  • Experience with NBCC, CSA standards
  • Field experience on construction sites, conducting general reviews for compliance with drawings and specifications, and writing site reports
  • Experience with Etabs, SAFE, SAP and other similar Structural design software.
  • Team player with the proven ability to work independently with minimum direction
  • Hard worker who is eager and willing to assume responsibility
  • Commitment and dedication to client service as well as technical excellence
  • Demonstrated and effective communication skills and the ability to handle changing needs while working effectively with diverse groups
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to determine what work is required and draw rational conclusions from all available information
  • Valid driver’s license is an asset
