Job summary

Allnorth is seeking a Structural Engineer with a strong background in construction engineering for our Newfoundland team, in Gander or St. John’s.

You will lead structural design for industrial and infrastructure projects, collaborate with contractors and clients, and mentor engineers and designers through project lifecycles. You will analyze structures, ensure compliance with building codes and seismic standards, and contribute to delivering innovative, practical solutions that support

Qualifications

• Licensed or eligible for P.Eng. in Newfoundland.
• 4+ years of experience in construction/infrastructure design.
• Experience with structural analysis and seismic design principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design of industrial, commercial, and infrastructure projects.
• Perform structural analysis to ensure code compliance and seismic requirements.
• Prepare drawings, specs, and reports with accuracy and clarity.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate structural solutions.
• Conduct site visits to monitor construction and safety alignment.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members.
• Build strong client relationships and support ongoing projects.

We are seeking a Structural Engineer with a strong background in construction engineering within the infrastructure sector to join our Newfoundland team, in either our Gander or St. John’s office. Our work combines technical excellence with innovative problem-solving to deliver meaningful projects that make a lasting impact on the communities we serve. In this role, you’ll collaborate with contractors, clients, and a talented team of professionals to bring a diverse range of projects from concept through to completion. You’ll be part of a supportive, collaborative team of engineers, EITs, designers, and project managers who value fresh ideas, open communication, and working together to achieve great results.

ADayintheLife

• Lead the structural design of industrial, commercial, construction engineering, and infrastructure projects using industry-standard design software.
• Perform structural analysis and calculations to ensure compliance with applicable building codes, seismic requirements, and sustainability standards.
• Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, and reports, ensuring accuracy, quality, and clarity.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and integrate effective structural solutions.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor construction progress and ensure work aligns with design specifications and safety requirements.
• Develop practical, innovative engineering solutions that balance safety, cost-effectiveness, functionality, and aesthetics.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, supporting ongoing projects while identifying opportunities to develop new clients and projects for Allnorth.
• Work closely with project managers, team members, contractors, and other stakeholders to establish clear project requirements, deliverables, and expectations.
• Manage project deliverables to meet established schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
• Proactively identify and resolve technical, scope, performance, and scheduling challenges in collaboration with project managers.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to structural team members, supporting their professional development and the overall success of the team.

WhatYou’llBringtotheTeam

• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration (or the ability to obtain) in Newfoundland.
• 4+ years of relevant experience in construction engineering and infrastructure design, ideally within an engineering consulting environment.
• Experience in finite element analysis of structures, dynamic analysis, and a solid understanding of seismic design principles.
• Knowledge of and experience applying national and provincial design codes, standards, and regulations.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to mentor and support the professional development of team members.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands and manage multiple projects effectively.
