Job summary

Dillon Consulting Limited in London, Ontario, is seeking a Structural (Bridge) CAD Designer/Drafter to join our Structures Transportation team. You will produce 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D to support transportation projects from concept through construction.

This hybrid role offers flexible work hours and collaboration with engineers, planners, and technicians in a collaborative, employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate from an accredited program in engineering technology or architecture.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D required; knowledge of Revit or MicroStation is an asset.
• Experience in transportation structures is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed 2D and 3D drawings for transportation structures.
• Collaborate with engineers and planners on design packages.
• Prepare construction drawings and document submissions.
• Assist with quantity take-offs and contract administration tasks.

Dillon’sStructures Transportation Discipline is seeking a Structural (Bridge) CAD Designer/Drafter to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.

This is a new position and can be based at any one of our following offices: Ottawa, ON, London, ON

Responsibilities

Technical Work

• Collaboration with multidisciplinary team members including engineers, planners, scientists, and technical and administrative support staff in the development of detailed design contract packages.
• Assistance to project managers and engineers in the functional and detailed design of transportation structures.
• Completion of detailed design drafting for a variety of project types.
• Application of 2D and 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD and other specialty programs to produce design drawings.
• Preparation of construction drawings/documents.
• Calculation of quantity take-offs for concrete volumes, reinforcement, and miscellaneous steel for complex structures.
• Assistance with contract administration tasks including construction observation, shop drawing review, contractor submittal review, progress payment preparation, and responding to requests for information.
• Coordination and completion of site assessments, construction observation and construction management of site documentation.
• Completion of OSIM inspection and reporting.
• Business travel to other Dillon offices upon request.

Qualifications

Education

• Diploma program from an accredited Architectural or Engineering Technologist Program. Civil Technician Certificate or CAD Certificate training may also be considered.

Experience

• 2-7 Years of experience in the engineering consulting industry.
• Strong verbal and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills.
• Highly organized and detail oriented.
• Proficient use of current AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D.
• Knowledge of Revit software and / or Microstation is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of relevant municipal/provincial/industry engineering standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements is considered an asset.
• Understanding of the range of project design and implementation activities including development of design drawings and reports, contract document preparation, tendering, and contract administration is considered an asset.

Compensation

$54,700 - $82,100

At Dillon, we believe in transparency. The following salary range is what we expect to offer for this position. It will be dependent on the successful applicant’s education, experience, and skills, in addition to internal equity and geographic region. Dillon reserves the right to pay outside of the posted range, contingent on factors unrelated to an applicant’s gender or other status protected by provincial and/or federal law.
